You may have noticed by my infrequent blog post schedule that I have been taking a bit of a break as of late. As luck would have it, my efforts to squirrel away my vacation time paid off and I was fortunate enough to take a week off in the summer (with another week of vacation left to take by the end of the month). Life has been sweet these past few weeks and I’ve caught up on some important tasks I’ve let slide for months on end. I was able to see three shows (Brandi Carlile, Mumford and Sons, and Old Crow Medicine Show with the Lumineers). I worked on a few social media projects, saw a production of Romeo and Juliet in upstate NY, relaxed, and burned a hole in my DVR with constant Olympic coverage. Has anyone else been glued to gymnastics? Also, when does rhythmic gymnastics start? Please tell me I haven’t already missed it!
It’s been hard to ignore the constant tweets and status updates from friends who attended BlogHer this year. Last weekend thoughts of BlogHer kept playing in my head and I was really upset I didn’t sign up last minute. I imagined all my favorites gathered in a room meeting virtual friends for the first time. I thought about what guest speaker Barack Obama had to say to the attendees. I pictured the many sponsors and cool swag everyone went home with.
And I missed you all.
So I turned off my reader and ignored the many messages. And I cursed myself for not attending a conference that was practically in my backyard.
But enough about that. No more wallowing. I want to know everything from those of you who attended. Leave me a comment here and expect me to make my rounds your way very shortly. Besides, it looks as though the ball is already rolling for BlogHer 2013 which happens to be in Chicago, one of my favorite cities. I hope I can eat and network my way through the windy city next August. Who’s in?

YO, BogHer 2013, here we come! Look out Chicago! I’m ready to start saving for that NOW. I was sad about not being able to go this year, too, and good grief it was RIGHT HERE!! But… I digress. We’ll get there! Curly girls takin’ over the Windy City. Promise me some deep dish pizza. :-p

I suffered through BlogHer and it was even more painful because: (Yes, I’m gearing up for a list)
1. Last year it was in San Diego. A BIKE ride away! And I didn’t go because I was going through a blogging identity crisis (aka I was heartbroken no other bloggers asked to see me – boo hoo hoo)
2. If BlogHer had been in San Diego THIS year? I so would have been all over the place. Although nobody asked me to go – boo hoo hoo
3. BlogHer was ONE week after RollerCon. The roller derby conference in Las Vegas. I didn’t go there either. And that produced even more tweets, FB pics, Instagrams – it was heartbreaking.
4. Two major conferences back to back? Kill me.
5. That’s it. Problem with lists is you never want to end them.
6. Irrelevant but, when you mentioned the stuff you did in your vacation – SHAME ON YOU – social media? Phooey. Talk about the fun stuff you did. š
7. Somebody needs to tell the higher ups in spellchecker that BlogHer IS a word. Ditto on RollerCon. Yo.

I seriously want to go to a blog conference SO BAD and I can just imagine that BlogHer would be AMAZING. Every year I keep saying I’ll go but then my social anxiety gets the best of me. Sigh.

I’ve been loving the Olympics. We watched it the past few nights on vacation, and again to unwind after our trip. They’re all such amazing athletes. They’re inspiring me to work out more!
