In honor of national dog day, I present this photo of Milo. I thought maybe he would like a comfy pillow while I stepped out and I felt so guilty because he was still so new and getting acclimated to our home and life away from the shelter. I quickly learned that was a no good, very bad idea 🤣

It was the first of many naughty quirks that we’ve grown to love about our baby pittie. Such a goober and the bestest boy. We love you, Milo. Don’t ever change 🐶❤️ #nationaldogday

It’s been a while since I l introduced myself and well, no time like the present, right? Welcome! I am a mom of a spunky, silly 6-year-old named Mila and she’s the love of my life. I never met a dog I didn’t like (I’d also like you to meet my boy Milo; if you’re new here, brace yourself for lots of puppy photos). Pigeons, on the other hand, are rats with wings. I’ll travel great distances for a delicious vegan meal. I’ve recently added 🐠 to my diet and phish is one of the greatest bands in the history of ever ⭕️ I love to lose myself in a good book and rain is the best soundtrack (rain + a good book? Bliss). My hubby @bryanholster is an IT nerd 🤓 which is amazing because I break every piece of tech that comes my way. I’m the head of campaign management at an influencer marketing agency called @sm4.influencer.agency and this past year I took on another job as a preschool teacher. The kids make me laugh every day but it is a job that requires infinite levels of patience so respect ✊ to all the teachers out there.

I started My Pixie Blog about 100 years ago and I was a very different Charlotte back then. But some things remain the same: I still love heated (and respectful!) debates, there isn’t a true crime documentary I wont stop to watch. My friends are my chosen family and my “family” family is so eccentric it’s amazing I turned out the way I did.

I think I covered it all. Photo is a year old but I think it captures us as we are.

On our last night in Belfast, Maine, we took a quick canoe ride out on the water to watch the sun set. This was the first time we left a vacation and felt so deeply connected to a place—Maine has that effect, I suppose ❤️

I wish we had more time in Maine, but especially in Acadia 🏞️ We did the Loop Drive and made a ton of stops— the most memorable being Cadillac Mountain and Sand Beach. Mila could have spent hours in the sand watching the waves roll in ❤️ I was freezing after about five minutes 🤣

We even bumped into @bryanholster’s sweet cousin @localtilldeth, his wonderful wife @sector9sk8r and their beautiful (and all grown up!!) kids Tighe and Delainee.

Maine will be missed, but we hope to return soon!

One of the best meals we had in downtown Belfast, Maine was at @dos_gatos_gastropub. Our waitress wasn’t kidding when she said the aioli was life changing ❤️ highly recommend the fiesta potatoes appetizer and the nachos—@bryanholster declared them the best he’s ever had and I was so excited we had leftovers except he housed them all the next day 🤣

Also our waitress was so sweet. We asked for paper so Mila could color and she did us one better and gave us a server pad so Mila could take our orders 🌮

Mila has cried every night since we returned from

Mila has cried every night since we returned from “our vacation home” in Maine, and who could blame her? It’s not every day you get to stay in a historic farmhouse on 5 acres of land with a private lake and canoe. Of all the things we did and experienced on our trip (and we did a lot), coming home to this gorgeous @airbnb was an absolute highlight for me, too. We even had three bedrooms to choose from (everyone got their own room, it was glorious). I loved all the natural light and cozy book nooks. I got a good chunk of reading done! 📚

Our hosts Martha and Patrick were so sweet and always made sure we had what we needed.

Yes. We sure did ❤️
