I haven’t been a very good blogger lately. Sometimes in the shower I’m struck by moments of inspiration but then I’m blinded by soap and I lose my mojo completely. I don’t travel with pen and paper as much as I used to and the writing I do consists of list taking and reminders (make dentist appointment. Call realtor. Order birthday gift for so-and-so).
All terrible excuses, really.
What I really want is the writing bug to infect me again but it’s just one of those slumps. I know I’ll see my way to the other side, and I apologize if my posts have been a bit lackluster lately.
Here are some of my latest blog confessions (also known as “life lately/currently” or “scattered thoughts”). I didn’t grow up Catholic but am hopeful that getting these out gives me a clean slate. What do you think?
My first celebrity crush was Johnny Carson when I was about 6 or 7.
I sing like an angel in the shower but sound like a dying moose in the real world (sorry, Tamara! I know you love your moosen!).
I’m convinced I can live on avocados alone.
Every house I visit feels like a mansion and I’m terrified of living somewhere too big, but I wonder if my depth perception is off after years of apartment living.
I really want to hug a sloth and feed a baby goat. Or take yoga with goats (believe it or not, those classes exist!).
My friend wants to stay in a haunted clown hotel. I believe that is what nightmares are made of but if she lightly twisted my arm, I’d go for research purposes only.
The other night I had a dream I had a baby monkey. I woke up and Googled “can you own a monkey in New Jersey?”
I want kids but am terrified of parenting.
I’m getting better with kids. I never had any problems around dogs but put me in front of a child and my subconscious thinks of every way possible to ruin the encounter (see: inappropriate language and jokes that go way over a child’s head). Not a natural.
What are some of your blog confessions?
I’m participating in Coach Daddy’s 6 words prompt today! Be sure to stop by here and check it out 🙂
I’ve seen those yoga classes with goats! I thought it was a really cute idea until I started thinking about the mess they’d make and, knowing my luck, I’d go to down dog and would put my hand right in it. I think it would be fun to own a pet monkey but those suckers are smart. I think being a monkey mom might be just as hard as being a human mom. 🙂
Oh my gosh, yes! I’ve always wanted a monkey and have researched the laws in NY – HAHA! I will never do it, but it’s a nice dream. 😉
OKAY, where is this haunted clown hotel?! I would totally go!
So what did Google tell you about monkeys? Really, there isn’t much difference between monkeys and children, except for the mess.
Monkeys aren’t quite as messy.
Thanks for the link to the 6 words, and for playing along!
You are right my friend, it’s like we share a brain! And I love your confessions – goat yoga??? I want to go to that class! I want a pet goat in the worst way, no joke.
And for what it’s worth, I was pretty terrified of parenting and what becoming a parent would look like, but once my son was born it just felt right and I knew what I was doing – most of the time. There is plenty of time I still have no clue, but somehow once you actually are a parent, you figure it out. I think you’ll be awesome. <3
Yoga with goats? Sign me up!
Yoga for goats? LOL that sounds so very cute! Downward facing goat—it’s a thing. Your posts haven’t been lacklustre at all, Charlotte. It’s normal to feel a slump for sure. Also, it’s strange where and when we can come up with an idea. I didn’t submit for Eli’s six words—my brain wasn’t bending to it. Haha. I’ll check yours out though!
Soo… CAN you own a monkey in NJ? I don’t remember!
I’m sure your beautiful voice is better than a moose! Shower magic and all.
I did once read that a baby can live on avocados if need be. I swear!
I never had any interest or aptitude with children until I had my daughter. It’s the love that makes it possible.
Is it possible to hug a sloth?
I’m totally the opposite of you! Put me in front of a child and I am in my natural environment. Put me in front of an animal and I don’t know how to deal. (Though, like you, I’m getting better!)
SAME! I love me some avocados! I can eat that with anything!
i, too, am plagued with a ton of random ramblings… my most recent thought — would i much rather have smart kids that are unfortunate looking or handsome kids that are dumb? … mind you, i have three kids of my own already LOL but it’s just something to think about
You can feed a baby goat at the Meadowlands State Fair 🙂 I’m all for haunted hotel/houses, but could NOT do clowns- they’re terrifying! So what was the verdict on monkey ownership in NJ?!
I think yoga with goats would be really fun – and yoga with cats! I’ve seen those around too. Sorry you’re in a bit of a blogging slump – it can definitely happen! Don’t stress.
Nice Interesting Blog yoga with goats would be really fun.
I’m feeling the blogging slump, too. Ugh.
The thought of a haunted clown hotel is terrifying, but I would be interested to read about it 🙂
I am the same way lately Charlotte- my part 2 Greece post I just know is going to take so much time that I have honestly been slacking on it…lol …. need to get my mojo back!
My blog confession: Every time I finish a blog post I feel immense satisfaction and every time I hit the publish button I feel sheer terror. Also, I’ve seen the goat yoga thing and I’ve considered doing it only because I feel like it would make a funny blog post.
