Many thanks to eHarmony UK for today’s sponsored post. Helpful advice at any stage in the relationship, in my most humble opinion. Sometimes it’s good to just take care of yourself, yes? XOXO

When a relationship ends, it’s tempting to stay in your pajamas all day and eat ice cream. But this isn’t the best solution for you or your waistline. Here are seven tips to help heal that broken heart, and perhaps even find love again…
1. Accept it’s over
Until you accept the relationship is over, you’re never going to be able to move on. It’ll be tough coming to terms with the fact your ex isn’t coming back. However, by dealing with your grief now, you’ll be able to look to the future with a more positive outlook.
2. Spring cleaning
Remove any painful reminders of your relationship from your home. If the novelty fridge magnet from your holiday in Chicago reduces you to tears, bin it. Don’t forget your online profile too. The last thing you want to see is a massive picture of your ex pop up on your homepage, so unfriend them immediately.
3. Spend time with friends
Friends support one another so let yours cheer you up. They’ve all been there, even the ones raving about their latest love interest. Pour your heart out over a nice cup of tea or get glammed up for a big night out with the gang.
4. Escape to the sun
Leave the grey skies and gloomy outlook at home by jetting off to somewhere sunny. You don’t need your ex to make you happy. Prove it to yourself with some quality time alone in a tropical paradise. Some time to yourself will help you clear your head. Plus, planning your dream holiday is a great way to distract yourself.
5. Start a new hobby
Always wanted to learn to knit? Avoid moping around in front of the television by starting a new hobby or project. Once those knitting needles start clicking, there won’t be time to dwell on what your ex is up to now. An added bonus is that you’ll end up with a lovely new jumper.
6. Get a confidence boost
When you’re feeling low, one of the best ways to improve your mood is to indulge in a bit of pampering. Find a spa and relax in the hot tub with a crisp glass of bubbly. After a break-up, it’s good to be selfish and think about what you want. If it takes place on the massage table, even better.
With your inner glow restored, it’s now time to concentrate on the outside bits. Stroll down to the salon and transform yourself with a head-turning new do.
7. Start searching for your soul mate
Once the dust has settled and you’re back to your old self, it’s time to start thinking about the future. Your ex wasn’t the only person for you so get out there and find your soul mate. The eHarmony website has thousands of potential suitors across the country waiting to woo you. Find your Cambridge match or a beautiful London beau with eHarmony.

I actually am amazed at how quickly I got over my marriage and my only explanation is that I knew it was over WAY before we finally threw in the towel. Because I SUCK at getting over relationships. I was the girl that mourned for months and did everything I could to get the guy back. Kind of pathetic actually.
I’m not sure if I just grew up or what but it felt good to have such a clean break from my marriage. It probably also helped finding a guy like Izzy 😉
DO YOU KNOW HOW YOU MADE MY HEART POUND WHEN I SAW THE TITLE OF THIS NEW POST???
I couldn’t get here fast enough.
Glad all is well on the home front, beautiful lady.
Great advice… for me, it was different each time… sometime I just needed time, sometimes it took a distraction. Fortunately, I don’t have much experience with this 🙂
These are great. Also remembering that time heals all and you WILL feel better.
Great advice! Although in my experience, you find your soul mate when you’re not looking!
Good advice even for those of us just dealing with the stress and strain of everyday life! Thanks for the reminders!
{Melinda} I’ve been out of the dating scene for quite a few years now, but I do think that when a relationship ends, it’s a great time to work on things in ourselves — our own baggage, character issues, etc. Then, we are that much healthier and more attractive (inside and out, perhaps) for a new relationship. 🙂
Well said. I especially believe in the time with friends. I never thought about the new hobby but I think that is good advice too!
Good advice… may I never need it again — haha!
🙂

I am a true believer in numbers 3 and 5. Friends and a hobby. I become a real gymaholic after heartbreak. Nothing like bringing sexy back hard after some idiot let you down, so next time you see him, he is breaking his neck in the crackers aisle to scope you out. Yes. True story. LMAO.
I owe you a major e-mail.
Time is a great healer and all that as glammamom says – then as the sponsored poster said you can start searching again for your soulmate.
I guess, depending upon the reason for the split in the first place, you need to get yourself in a place to trust someone again, and then start looking, if not for your soul-mate, then at least that someone who you miss when they are not there.
