Hello, my sweet ones, and welcome to a new month and a new chance to be the very best version of YOU that you can possibly be. Woah. What the hell did I have this morning?? 🙂 I’m in the city today for a very long day of meetings (but mostly commuting. Why did I move to the ends of the earth?!). That said, I’ll be a bit slow today responding to comments, but I might have some time on my ride home to get caught up with you all.
Anyway, in case you’re new here, each month I like to review the goals I set the month before and think about what I’d like to accomplish in the next 30 days. I find that (for me at least) small and actionable steps help me stay accountable amidst life’s craziness. Here are my goals for January—let’s see how we did!
Do all things with intention. For the most part, I consider this one a win. January threw me some curveballs—my dad had a heart attack which was scary and unexpected (but perhaps not completely out of the blue); I tried my best to listen to my body when things didn’t feel right and slow down when needed. Big fan of naps lately 🙂
Book a getaway. Yes. We just returned from our little weekend getaway in the Poconos (I wrote about it here if you’d like to take a look!)
Take care of health. I could have improved here if I’m being 100% honest with myself. I took and then failed my glucose test and had a lot of stress surrounding that before my father’s heart attack. I never made it to the gym or meditated and though I think my eating habits were okay and I increased my water intake, it’s an area I’d like to improve on in the next month
Get on top of client work. Yes. Have been thinking of ways to keep my coworkers in the loop of ongoing client work (a big part of today’s meeting) but have also been reaching out to freelance/blog clients, and trying to get caught up on everything while I still can
Result: 3/4. Not too shabby.
Here are some things I’d really like to accomplish this month, which is short and sweet and already under way!
Try not to sweat the small stuff. Our nursery isn’t done, there are still things to do for my baby shower, and a million and one things I should accomplish before baby’s arrival in April. Realistically speaking, however, baby will sleep in our room for the first few months so even if her nursery isn’t entirely set up, she’ll have a cozy warm place to rest next to us. And would anyone care if I don’t have centerpieces at my shower? Prob not.
Get our taxes done. We are filing somewhat early this year and have the accountant coming by next week with finalized paperwork (I can’t remember the last time I got money back; let’s hope this is the year!). Some things in life simply are worth paying for.
Enjoy the heck out of my baby shower. I have friends coming from all walks of life, and this is the first time Bryan and I are merging our families (having a fly-by-night wedding kind of cuts out some of the formalities, lol). I really hope I have the chance to mingle and chat with everyone—there will be so many people I love in one room from childhood, college, past jobs, and shelter work… and I’m so excited to embrace them all <3
