This year for Valentine’s Day, Bryan asked if I’d like to treat myself to a manicure and it was the greatest gift he could have given me, even though it took some convincing because I am hella paranoid about the Covid and patiently waiting my turn for a vaccine. I asked one of my oldest friends @staceybauman to join me (we go way WAY back to elementary school days) and we caught up on all the things. We decided to make a tradition of it, and now meet every 2-3 weeks (whenever the shellac has run its course lol) for a respite from our home lives and kids. It feels like the most normal thing I’ve done in almost a full year, even though we mask up and sit behind glass partitions 💅

What do you do to care of yourself, especially during these strange times? And when was the last time you had a manicure and a haircut? Haircut is about a year and a half for me 😳 Hope you are enjoying the weekend (and who is watching the Megan/Harry interview tonight??). ❤️

I don’t think of myself as a mom blogger. Maybe

I don’t think of myself as a mom blogger. Maybe it’s because the last 11 months have been chaotic and I’m learning to navigate a lot of new normals at once. Or perhaps it’s because I had Mila so late in life and I got used to not having anyone else to answer to (as it turns out, babies are pretty demanding lol). But it’s true what they say. Parenthood changes you in ways you never imagined possible—the heart expands; the fears increase. Here is an excerpt from today’s blog post (#linkinbio if you’d like to read the whole thing):

Sometimes I can’t wait to put Mila down for the night so I can get some things accomplished, and then I hear her cry in her crib and I’m happy because I know my touch and voice and heartbeat soothe her. And so I rock her in my arms and I hum and run my fingers through her hair and wonder how it’s possible to have created something so perfect.

I’ll never get it all right and I’m sure I’ll question myself 1,000,000 times along the way. But this much is true—I love this little peanut with every fiber of my being and I feel so lucky I was chosen to be her momma ❤️🌈

So funny how temperatures go above 40 in the winter and it feels like a heatwave 🔥 the snow is melting, the ☀️ is shining, and the 🐦 are singing so Mila and I are loving baby wearing these days. Hope everyone is excited for the weekend ahead and that you have fun plans in store (lmk in the comments!). I think I’m going to stop by @michaelsstores for their plant sale. And by “plants” I obviously mean fakies because I still don’t have a green thumb 🌱 😂 I’ll share a spot in my home that needs a touch of green. Recommendations always appreciated! ❤️🥰

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that

I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that we’ve lived life like THIS (*waves hands*) for nearly an entire year. Having a baby in a pandemic has been challenging and I’m really tired of glossing over the crappy parts, because I had a full-fledged breakdown the other day and I think it maybe in part had to do with trying to appear to have it all together. When did that become a thing and who TF do I think I am? I’m not reinventing the wheel of parenting and I’m sure as sh*t not going to give the impression that it’s all sunshine and sprinkles. There is no such thing as work/life balance, but like everything else along this journey, there are ebbs and there are flows. Whenever I leave Mila for work, my heart aches something fierce. And when I leave work for Mila, I feel guilty. But yesterday I led a really great phone call with a client and my coworker called me a “boss mama” (I don’t think anyone knew I was bouncing my daughter most of the time until she let out a loud scream lol). Later that day Mila discovered her hands and learned she could wave and I felt so, so proud because I have been trying to teach her for weeks. She got there when she felt ready 🥰

This pandemic has taught me that we can’t always control what happens in life which is hard for type A personalities. But sometimes we need to take a moment and pat ourselves on the back because holy hell, against all odds, we have made it this far ❤️❤️❤️

Over the past few months I’ve found a few beauty

Over the past few months I’ve found a few beauty favorites that are now a part of my everyday rotation (make of that what you will and no, I am not quitting my day job to become a beauty influencer 😂). Not pictured here: the magic @makeuperaser washcloth that gets rid of all the makeups using just water (pretty amazing if I do say so myself).

Just another day in the life of Milo 🐶 and Mila 👧

These two always make me laugh when days are dark and weird. It’s cute to see them grow up together. Mila enjoys feeding her older brother scraps of food while he patiently sits and awaits treats, occasionally licking her tiny fingers for encouragement. I’m constantly amazed by how gentle they are with each other and hope for little Mila this means a lifetime of love for our fur friends. I also think that our beloved Buster who passed over the 🌈 bridge two years ago is looking over our little nest, simultaneously laughing at what we’ve become and happy he’s somewhere warm, quiet, and undisturbed. 😂❤️

#ad It’s rare we get out anymore but we had an impromptu date recently and the only place I wanted to be was Target 😝 we bought a ton of stuff we didn’t need, a few new foods we wanted to try, and goodies for Mila, of course.

It seems like we’ve been living this way for years now, doesn’t it? This time is isolation is so hard for anyone with mental health issues—as someone who has long struggled with anxiety and depression, it’s important to get help, reach out, and find your people. No one should be in this alone ❤️

I am, however, excited about a bright light at the end of a very dark tunnel. We have made it so far and it truly feels like change is gonna’ come the more we continue to wear our masks and socially distance. And of course get that vaccine as soon as it becomes available!
