As far as shoes are concerned, you should have a sturdy, rubber-soled shoe or boots with good traction. Do not wear anything that you could trip on when you are moving around. It’s also wise to wear leather gloves to make it easier to hold onto the ladder. It’s not a bad idea to wear a hardhat or safety glasses in case a strong wind comes and blows something into your eyes while you are up there. 
4. Be Patient: Fixing a leak can be a slow process, especially if it’s your first time attempting it on your own. It also might take time to figure out the source of the leak. Don’t rush or the results could end up sloppy and you might make the problem even worse, which may cost you more money and time down the road.
