I can’t believe we’re 23 days into the month of November and I’m just now getting around to writing out my goals. Oh well. A big part of this practice is to look back and evaluate progress because if I’m not constantly improving, what is the sense of establishing goals in the first place?
Here are some goals from October:
Various projects around the house—sort office, organize pantry, and bring some of the outside plants indoors. DONE! I actually am intending to share the pantry organization because a few of you said it’s on your list of to-dos this winter but I’m hoping to add at least one more shelf. Post to come! Also I brought in a plant but it’s not doing well and I’m wondering if it was to come in in the first place (too bad I know absolutely nothing about gardening)
Make a sizable credit card payment. DONE! If you read my Friday post, you may have heard that I paid off $7,000+ in two months. I KNOW. I can hardly believe it either. Refinancing and deferring payment on our mortgage helped immensely (as did the cash out option we took), but really I stopped putting everything on my credit card and made payments as soon as I was able
Minimal screen time. I think that should say “MINIMIZE screen time” but you know what I mean. Maybe. I struggled with this one so am adding it to the list in November again. I’ve enabled a setting on my phone that allows me to see how many hours/minutes I spend on my phone per day as well as the number of times I pick it up, and boy is it depressing. I’m going to have to improve in this area
Finish a book? Well I knew at the time this was lofty and sure enough I didn’t meet this goal, lol.
Verdict: 2/4.
Not too shabby I guess.
New month, new me. Here are some goals I’d like to accomplish in November (I hereby refuse to add “read a book” to my list of goals since it seems that shit is never happening lol. But if you DO have a book recommendation, I’m all ears!).
- Minimize screen time
- Find time for myself. This has been really hard since I work from home full time and you know, the whole new baby thing (not to mention the pandemic), but I want to prioritize this because I’m feeling a lot of emotions this year and need to do more for myself
- Get a start on holiday shopping
- Mend fences. This one breaks my heart if I’m honest but I’ve been fighting with my mom in particular about the holidays, and my wellbeing is suffering as a result. I don’t want it to be this way, so am hoping that I can get to a better place, with the days we have remaining this month
And there you have it. Short and sweet. Got goals for November? Let me know in the comments, and hope you have a great week ahead!
Wow, you’ve achieved some major successes! Good for you. Now enjoy the holidays as best you can during these unusual times.
Sorry about the argument with your mom. I assume it’s about holiday gatherings, etc. Emotions are high these days- especially with people wanting holidays to be normal. You do what is best for you and your little family though, and I hope that you and your mom can reach an understanding!
YESSS – you definitely need some me time, girl! I’m sure it’s been rough – pandemic, working from home, baby, dog, etc. It might be tough, but carve out time here and there!! As for books, I suggest anything short and sweet. Do you like graphic novels or comics? Those are always fun and easy reads. I recommend Lucy Knisley for graphic novels – they are all nonfiction and based on her life, so traveling when younger, then getting married, then having a baby, etc.

Uff. Minimize screen time. Yes. It’s hard. It’s been getting better ever since the election happened, but still…. too much.
You did great on your goals otherwise, girl!
