This post is sponsored by WeHaveChemistry but all opinions are my own.
What if I told you that there is a science behind sexual attraction and satisfaction? That humans are more likely to be sexually attracted to one another (inside AND outside of committed relationships) based on their DNA?
Is your mind blown yet?
Truth be told, science isn’t really my bag. In fact, I failed chemistry back in the day, a sad reality my family likes to remind me of when I’m feeling too big for my britches (side note: I have never used that expression and I doubt I ever will again). Here is something I do know, however: attraction is at the core of all personal relationships. Our attraction is based on need, desire, or circumstance, and as science has confirmed, there IS actually more than meets the eye where sexual chemistry is concerned.
As you may already know (since I started this blog back in 2009), dating is something I have long taken an interest in via my own very unscientific personal research, and I am always interested in new developments in the fields of sex and relationships. So much has changed over the years! When geneticist and CEO of WeHaveChemistry Dr. Brittany Barreto reached out about a potential collaboration, I jumped at the opportunity to dive into a science-based product that can help couples grow their love by reporting on their strengths and weaknesses.
My Pixie Blog: So how does it work?
Dr. Britany Barreto: I’m so glad you asked!
WeHaveChemistry is a web-based product for couples to discover their scientific love language. A team of highly-skilled geneticists, data scientists, and relationship counselors have created a DNA test that looks at you and your partner’s HLA genes to predict your sexual attraction and chemistry. As they say, opposites attract—and biologically, that’s true!
Your HLA gene (also known as the Human Leukocyte Antigen) can determine your sexual compatibility with your partner with a simple cheek swab. It takes about 21 days to receive the results of your HLA test back in the mail after a complete custom chemistry report is generated. You and your partner can also take an online SEA (Socio-Emotional Analysis) quiz, and get the results back immediately. Created by WeHaveChemistry’s co-creator and relationship expert Dr. Laura Berman, this relationship questionnaire analyzes four critical components of connection—including Emotional Intimacy, Physical Connection, Purpose, and Future Vision. I highly suggest you check out this quiz with your partner, so you canget an idea of how you communicate, harmonize, and so much more. Please note: for the purposes of reporting, WeHaveChemistry ONLY looks at your HLA genes.
You can also take a look at the FAQ tab on their website to have questions answered. Here is something I learned that I thought was worth sharing:
“There is no risk in finding out that you and your partner are not compatible. We will never score your love or tell you are incompatible. Instead we provide information on the strengths and potential weaknesses of your relationship. We represent these results through elements. No matter which element your love is categorized as, you can be proud and rejoice at discovering your secret formula. Couples grow stronger when they know the type of chemistry that binds them. WeHaveChemistry is here to enhance your relationship by empowering you with information. It is not a diagnostic test for the strength of the relationship. The Couples Chemistry Report is fun, engaging, and will bring you and your partner closer together.”
This is a great way for any couple to come together in the name of science and to improve on what’s already there. Interested in finding out more about WeHaveChemistry? Click here to get started!

This is really interesting! It reminds me of a book I had to read for my book club called Bonk that also kind of broke down the science of sex. There really is a lot of interesting information out there!
How fascinating! Science is definitely interesting, though I was never very good at it either, Charlotte. LOL I like that they don’t tell couples they aren’t compatible – that’s a good thing to know going in, I’m sure. 🙂

Science fascinates me, even if I DID fail my Biomed class in college, and Scarlet totally wants to be a doctor or nurse.. sigh.
I love their approach!
