I received a congratulatory text the other day from my aunt on 9 years of blogging at My Pixie Blog. Apparently LinkedIn notified her of my work anniversary, which of course made me reminisce and walk down memory lane. Nearly a decade of ramblings on love, life, and lessons learned. That’s the subheading on this blog and for good reason—I’ve detailed intimately the perils of online dating, the joys of connecting with a partner, the secrets of cohabitation—including all the good, the bad, and the ugly (looking at you, potential serial killer).
Anyway, now that the holiday season is in full swing (it starts with Halloween, am I right?!), I think this is the perfect time of year to get out there, to mingle and jingle. The advent of the internet has made dating a totally different animal from when I was out there in my 20s and early 30s. With a few clicks of a mouse and a good internet connection, you can have a hot date in just a few hours! There are a ton of free dating sites that put you in the driver’s seat, allowing you to dictate the terms of your meet-up, making it a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Because that’s really what this is all about—you being in control of your love life and making decisions that make you happy.
And for god’s sake, if you notice a red flag, trust your gut and know that your intuition will never steer you in the wrong direction. I SO WISH I could have told younger Charlotte that valuable piece of information!
What I like the most about this London dating site, for example, is that it’s dedicated to finding honest relationships for serious singles. Obviously geography factors in here, so you’ll need to be UK based to take advantage but it’s nice that in such a big city, you can find what you’re looking fot without stabbing in the dark. I remember casually dating in the city and finding it impossible to meet someone I really gelled with; sure, options were plentiful, but I had specific character traits I was attracted to and I didn’t want to compromise just for the sake of being in a relationship.
And you shouldn’t either.
If you are single this holiday season and would like to find yourself in a positive and life-changing relationship, why not give online dating a try? The worst that can happen is that you find yourself on a really bad date that will make for a great story (and hey, possibly even a blog!). Try dating sites in London to kickstart your love life this holiday season!
Have you ever tried online dating? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks for sharing. I don’t live in London, but it sounds like a good site for those that do. I’m sure living in a big city would make it both easier AND harder to date.

I never have! I sort of miss the boat on it because I had found Cassidy before it became a much more common thing. I think it’s great, though. So many perfect matches are found online.
I know so many people now who have met their significant others through online dating, some of whom have gone on to get married, I think it’s a fantastic way to meet people!
I met my husband online! I was a single mom of a 4 year old & I didn’t go many places with options to meet people, so it was worth a shot. January will be 17 years that we’ve been together. I wouldn’t trade a minute!
I actually met my husband through online dating! I was definitely skeptical, but I highly recommend it from my experience.
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with online dating. My last three relationships were all Tinder or Bumble guys, so it is possible to find some good eggs in a sea full of rotten ones. That being said, there are a lot of game players and the bots make the experience not so enjoyable. I loved your thoughts on this topic!
Hi! Not single or dating but your about me page had me at not married and no kids in NJ! I’m in Lyndhurst and am always happy to see local faces. Looking forward to following you!
