This post is inspired in large part by Brandi Carlile’s song Have you ever? If you haven’t given it a listen yet, grab a cup of coffee and soak it in. I promise you won’t regret it.
Have you ever wondered what songs would play on the soundtrack of your life?
Have you ever fought with someone you love so much that you don’t think you’ll ever fully recover? Because they are family and the things they said can’t ever be unsaid?
Have you ever wished you could just float in a river of cheese?
Have you ever heard music so beautiful you had to close your eyes to take it all in?
Have you ever formed a soul connection with an animal?
Have you ever given thanks to your anxiety for leaving you alone for a moment, so you can enjoy your life?
Have you ever read a book so good that you needed a reading detox?
Have you ever struggled to make the simplest decisions?
And have you ever thought about how the decisions you make—both big and small—snowball and impact everything you have ever experienced, touched, felt, and loved?
Have you ever been so happy in a moment that you want to take a snapshot and remember it always?
Have you ever been so sad in a moment that it leaves an imprint on your heart forever?
Have you ever waited for a phone call that you knew might never come?
Have you ever switched outfits four times in a day, and nothing fits the way you want it to?
Conversely, have you ever gone shopping for just one thing, but miraculously everything looks great and fits like a dream? And on that day, did you ever silently wish you could rob a bank?
Have you ever wanted to grab your best friend and escape life for a while?
Have you ever traveled alone and missed the company, and traveled with company and wished you were alone?
Just a few of my Have You Evers. Would you like to join in? Let me know your answers below or in your own blog post and tag me 🙂 I’d love to hear them!

I LOVE that Brandi song so much. It’s always been one of my favorites. She’s coming here in concert in November and I don’t think I can swing it to go, but I wish I could. She’s amazing. I love your “Have you evers” and was definitely nodding yes to many of them. Can we please go float down a river of cheese? And yes, I have struggled many a time to make a simple decision. Oh anxiety. Love you lady. XO
I love this! I’ve often thought about the soundtrack of my life…kind of like when you watch movies and music plays over parts that fits what’s happening; I sometimes think of life that way and wonder what songs would be playing. I’ve never traveled alone, but sometimes I wonder what it would be like. Granted, I think I have way too much anxiety to ever truly travel alone.

I love Brandi. Have you seen her live yet? She’s amazing.
A few of your Have You Ever’s made me laugh & a few definitely hit home.

Such a beautiful post! That song is amazing. I have not heard it before. Definitely a moving song. I can relate to so many of your thoughts here. One thing I constantly think about lately is when does it get easier. I have that thought related to so many things and it just boggles my mind that I am in a place right now where everything seems hard. Even the simplest things <3
Such a good song!
Yes to all of this! And because of you, I now have a favorite Maroon 5 song so I will take this song seriously.
Regarding the first one, this isn’t family but it was about a fight with her husband, that my friend said that sometimes people say words and they can scar a marriage or relationship.
What a beautiful post. Found myself nodding along to so many and can totally relate to the one on fighting with family and things not being able to be unsaid. Quite a sore issue for me at the moment 🙁
I love the question on being so happy in the moment that you want to take a snapshot. I’m aiming for more of those as I distance myself from negativity.
